Echoes of Corals, Blue Faceted Porcelain Ring With Pure Silver Accents
This sculptural ring pairs geometry with organic texture: one side is faceted like cut stone, the other overgrown with a crown of coral-like porcelain. The smooth gray body is finished in clear glaze to accentuate the clay’s depth, while the coral section is left matte, preserving its soft, branching texture.
The piece is hand-sculpted from blue pigmented Limoges porcelain, featuring an organically textured crown that echoes coral’s patterns. Pure silver beads sits atop the crown, like bubbles, or the small creatures that take shelter in a reef, to create an organic accent that catches and reflects light against the matte blue surface.
The ring is fired three times. After shaping and bisque, a clear glaze is applied to the faceted surface, creating a luminous finish that contrasts with the matte coral crown. It is then vitrified at cone 10 (2,350°F / 1,288°C), transforming into a durable, non-porous material. Small silver beads are added and partially melted during the final firing, completing the ring’s distinctive appearance.
Non-metal and lightweight, it can be worn by anyone, including those with metal sensitivities.
This piece is part of a small series of sculptural rings inspired by coral ecosystems. You can read more about the collection here—a journal entry about the sea, Elba, and the memory behind these shapes.
